RoomMeet
Terms of Service
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Welcome to https://roommeet.net. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and SLATE HOLDINGS LLC (“RoomMeet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) regarding your use of our website, products, and services (collectively, the “Services” or the “Platform”). RoomMeet helps incoming college students submit introduction posts—including photos, a short bio, and an Instagram handle—for potential review and publication on college class Instagram pages associated with a selected school. By accessing or using the Services, creating an account, submitting content, making a purchase, or clicking an agreement checkbox or similar control, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. Questions about these Terms may be sent to hello@roommeet.net.
The Service
RoomMeet is a submission, queue, and publishing tool for class-page introduction posts. Depending on the school and your choices, you may upload photos, write a bio or caption, provide an Instagram handle, track submission status, request edits or removals through Support, and, where offered, purchase Standard Posting or Priority / Skip the Line.
RoomMeet is not a university housing office, housing portal, or roommate-matching service. We do not assign roommates, manage dorms, verify enrollment or identity beyond ordinary operational review, approve housing contracts, or make official housing decisions for any school. Class Instagram pages may be independently operated and are not official university accounts unless clearly stated otherwise. RoomMeet is not affiliated with a college or university unless we clearly say so.
Authorized RoomMeet administrators may use internal tools to review submissions, manage queues, configure schools and pricing, and connect Instagram professional accounts for publishing. Those admin features are limited to authorized personnel and are not part of the ordinary student experience.
Age Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to access or use the Services, create an account, submit content, or make a purchase. By accessing or using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. RoomMeet does not knowingly permit individuals under 18 years old to use the Services. If we learn that an individual under 18 has used the Services or provided personal information, we may suspend or terminate the applicable account, remove associated content, cancel unfulfilled services, and take reasonable steps to delete the information, subject to legal, fraud-prevention, transaction-record, dispute-resolution, and security requirements.
Eligibility And Accounts
Some schools require you to create an account before submitting or checking out. Other schools may allow guest submission without an account, subject to your agreement to these Terms and our Privacy Policy when prompted. Account sign-in uses one-time passcodes sent by phone (SMS) or email.
If you sign in with a phone number, you may also agree to receive RoomMeet text messages for verification codes and account or submission updates, as described on our SMS Consent page. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts where that option is available. SMS practices are also described in our Privacy Policy and SMS Consent materials.
You are responsible for keeping your login methods secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate contact information so we can send verification codes, receipts, and submission-related notices.
You may delete your RoomMeet account through account settings where available, or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate access, refuse service, or delete accounts for violations of these Terms or where we reasonably believe there is security, fraud, abuse, or legal risk. Deleting an account does not automatically remove content that has already been published to Instagram or other public channels; see Removals And Edits below.
Authorized administrators may only connect Instagram professional accounts they own or are authorized to manage. You may not connect someone else’s Instagram account without permission.
Submissions And Content
You may submit photos, a bio or caption, an Instagram handle, a school selection, and related information for review and potential publication. Suggested bio topics (such as name, major, or roommate preferences) are optional guidance only; anything you include in your bio may appear in a public post.
You represent and warrant that: (a) you own the content or have all rights, licenses, permissions, consents, and releases needed to submit it and to authorize RoomMeet to use it as described in these Terms; (b) your content is accurate and truthful to the best of your knowledge and does not infringe anyone else’s intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights; (c) people appearing in your photos have consented to this use where consent is required; and (d) you will not submit content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, bullying, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, invasive of privacy, hateful, misleading, impersonating another person or organization, or otherwise unlawful or objectionable.
Do not post or disclose another person’s personal information without their explicit consent, including contact information, addresses, or images of others used without permission. Do not include sensitive personal information you would not want shown publicly, such as home addresses, passwords, financial details, or private documents.
Submitted content may be stored by RoomMeet, reviewed by authorized personnel, scheduled in a queue, formatted for Instagram (including Feed posts, Stories, or both, depending on school settings and operational choices), and published with accompanying caption text. Published captions commonly include your bio, a line identifying your Instagram handle, and school-related hashtags or similar append text configured for that school.
RoomMeet may approve, reject, edit, reformat, schedule, reschedule, delay, remove, delete, decline to publish, or otherwise manage submissions at its discretion, including for content-guideline, formatting, duplicate, school-fit, safety, legal, or operational reasons. Review does not mean we verify your identity, background, enrollment status, or roommate compatibility.
Before a submission is posted, you may be able to edit certain fields (such as photos, bio, or Instagram handle) from your account where that feature is available; edits may return the submission to review. After a submission is posted, in-product editing may be limited, and further changes or removals are handled through Support or admin review as described below.
Impersonation, Truthfulness, And Reporting
You may not create, submit, or maintain content that impersonates another person or organization, creates a fake profile, or otherwise misrepresents identity. We may remove offending posts and take action against the responsible account, including suspension or termination.
You must ensure the accuracy and truthfulness of content you upload. False, misleading, or dishonest representations are prohibited. Fraudulent, harmful, or illegal use of the Services is prohibited and may result in content removal, account termination, and referral for legal action where appropriate.
Users are encouraged to report impersonation, harassment, copyright concerns, or other suspicious activity promptly through Support or by emailing support@roommeet.net (or hello@roommeet.net for copyright notices). We will review credible reports and take action we deem appropriate under these Terms and applicable law.
License To Submitted Content
By uploading or submitting content—including images, photographs, graphics, bios, captions, Instagram handles, and related materials (collectively, “Content”)—you grant SLATE HOLDINGS LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, publicly display and perform, and create derivative works from the Content in connection with operating, marketing, promoting, and growing RoomMeet and related social media accounts, including college class Instagram pages we operate or are authorized to manage.
That license includes formatting and publishing uses such as resizing, cropping, overlaying, captioning, story-layout presentation, Feed and Story posts, and related promotional materials (for example social posts, newsletters, or other growth-related uses we reasonably deem necessary).
We may, but are not obligated to, provide attribution to you when Content is used. Attribution is not required for us to exercise the license.
You retain ownership of your Content. You may request that we stop future use of a specific piece of Content by emailing hello@roommeet.net (or using Support removal tools) and identifying the Content. Any use that occurred before we receive and process that notice remains valid under this license. Removal from Instagram or RoomMeet systems is handled as described in Removals And Edits and does not require us to recall materials already distributed to third parties.
How RoomMeet collects and discloses personal information in submissions, and what may appear publicly on class pages, is also described in our Privacy Policy. This license section controls rights granted to SLATE HOLDINGS LLC to use Content.
Removals And Edits
You may request edits or removal of a submission through RoomMeet Support (including the Support tools on our website) or by emailing support@roommeet.net. Include enough detail for us to locate the submission (such as school, Instagram handle, tracking number, and what you want changed or removed). Privacy and data-deletion requests may also use the contacts listed in our Privacy Policy and Data Deletion page (including hello@roommeet.net).
We will review removal and edit requests in accordance with our policies and legal obligations. If content has already been published to Instagram or another public channel, we will take reasonable steps for accounts we control or manage, but we cannot guarantee immediate removal, complete removal from third-party caches or resharing, or removal of copies made by others.
Requesting removal or deleting a submission does not entitle you to a refund except as required by law or as expressly stated in our Refund Policy or at checkout. Refund eligibility for deletions, removals, rejections, and related purchases is governed by our Refund Policy.
Instagram Publishing And Timing
Approved content may be published to Instagram Feed posts, Stories, or both, depending on school defaults and operational choices. Posting depends on queue position, school daily limits, scheduling settings, admin actions, and Instagram/Meta systems outside RoomMeet’s control.
Estimated posting times shown in the product or marketing materials (for example, standard-queue timing or Priority / Skip the Line timing) are estimates only and are not guarantees.
Instagram availability, permissions, token health, rate limits, and publishing behavior may change or fail without notice. We are not responsible for Instagram outages, policy changes, account restrictions, or third-party display of published content.
Instagram Reach And Engagement
RoomMeet does not guarantee that any submission or Instagram post will receive a particular number of views, likes, comments, shares, followers, profile visits, messages, matches, or other engagement. Performance may vary based on factors outside RoomMeet’s control, including Instagram’s systems, audience activity, timing, content quality, account restrictions, and changes to third-party platforms.
Any status information or post link provided by RoomMeet confirms only the applicable processing or publication status. It does not represent or guarantee any particular reach, engagement, or outcome.
Standard Posting And Priority / Skip The Line
Where offered for a school, RoomMeet may provide paid options such as Standard Posting (“Standard”) and Skip the Line (also called “Priority”; together, “Priority / Skip the Line”). Availability, pricing, and whether payment is required can vary by school, campaign, or experiment.
Standard Posting, when purchased as described at checkout, is typically a monthly subscription billed through Stripe. While an eligible Standard subscription is active, you may be able to submit additional Standard posts for that account without paying a new Standard subscription charge, as described in the product. Standard posts enter the standard queue.
Priority / Skip the Line, when offered and purchased, is typically a one-time payment for priority queue treatment for a single submission, as described at checkout. It is not a recurring subscription unless checkout expressly states otherwise. You may purchase Priority / Skip the Line at initial checkout or later as an upgrade for an eligible Standard submission that has not already been upgraded, when that option is offered.
Paying for a plan does not guarantee approval or publication. Submissions remain subject to review and these Terms. Rejected or ineligible submissions may not be offered Priority / Skip the Line upgrades.
Subscription cancellation, account-deletion effects on billing, refund eligibility, chargebacks, and how to request a refund review are described in our Refund Policy. That policy controls those subjects if this section and the Refund Policy differ.
Payments And Refunds
Paid submissions and related purchases are processed by Stripe. Payment methods available at checkout may include major cards and other methods Stripe supports for your purchase. We receive payment status and related transaction details as described in our Privacy Policy; we do not store full card numbers.
Prices, plan names, and posting options may vary by school or campaign and are shown before you complete checkout. Some schools may allow free submissions; others may require payment before a submission is accepted. We reserve the right to refuse service or transactions where permitted by law.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly stated at checkout, payments are non-refundable once processed. Detailed rules for Standard subscriptions, Priority / Skip the Line purchases, user cancellations and removals, rejected submissions, service failures, duplicate or accidental charges, promotional pricing, refund-review requests, and chargebacks are in our Refund Policy at /refund-policy.
If there is a conflict between a general statement in these Terms and a more specific statement in the Refund Policy about refunds, cancellations, billing, or chargebacks, the Refund Policy controls for those questions.
User Responsibilities
You are responsible for the content you submit, for how you interact with others you meet through class pages or related channels, and for following official university housing rules and deadlines separately from RoomMeet.
You are responsible for reviewing pricing, plan details, estimated timing, and any refund terms shown before you pay. Public posts can be seen by others; choose what you share carefully.
You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the Services.
Prohibited Use
You may not use RoomMeet for illegal or unauthorized activity; spam; unsolicited commercial advertising or promotion through the Services; harassment or bullying; impersonation; scraping; security testing without permission; or attempts to disrupt or abuse the Services.
You may not upload malware, attempt to bypass access controls, submit Content that infringes others’ intellectual-property rights, or use RoomMeet to collect or expose another person’s private information without consent.
Violation of these Terms may result in removal of Content, suspension or termination of access, retention of applicable payments as described in our Refund Policy, and other action permitted by law.
Intellectual Property And DMCA
RoomMeet names, branding, designs, software, and related materials are owned by SLATE HOLDINGS LLC or its licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.
You will not upload Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property rights of any third party.
If you believe Content on RoomMeet infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated contact at hello@roommeet.net that includes: (1) a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent; (2) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; (3) identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it; (4) your address, telephone number, and email address; (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (6) a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. Designated contact: SLATE HOLDINGS LLC, hello@roommeet.net.
Upon receipt of a valid notice, we may remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing Content as permitted by law. If you believe your Content was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to hello@roommeet.net that includes: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the Content removed or disabled and where it appeared before removal; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the removal or disabling resulted from mistake or misidentification; your name, address, telephone number, and email address; a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Virginia; and a statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice.
Third-Party Services
RoomMeet relies on third-party services to operate, which may include payment processing (Stripe), Instagram/Meta publishing and related APIs, email delivery, SMS delivery, hosting, databases, and file storage. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, including outages, data handling by those providers beyond our instructions, or changes to their platforms.
Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using RoomMeet, you also acknowledge that Privacy Policy. Data deletion instructions are available on our Data Deletion page and by contacting us as described there.
If there is a conflict between a general statement in these Terms and a more specific statement in the Privacy Policy about personal-information practices, the Privacy Policy controls for those privacy questions.
Electronic Communications And Assent
You agree to be bound by affirmations, assents, or agreements you transmit through the Services, including consent to receive communications from us electronically where you have agreed to do so.
When you click “I agree,” check a Terms or Privacy checkbox, complete checkout, or use a similarly worded control, that action is legally binding and is the legal equivalent of your handwritten signature for purposes of these Terms.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SLATE HOLDINGS LLC disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Use of the Services is at your own risk. No advice or information obtained from us or through the Services creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
We do not guarantee posting success, specific posting times, user responses, roommate outcomes, social media reach, or any particular result.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SLATE HOLDINGS LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from (a) your use of or inability to use the Services; (b) unauthorized access to or use of our systems or information stored therein; (c) interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Services; (d) bugs, viruses, or similar items transmitted by third parties; or (e) errors or omissions in any content, or loss or damage from use of content made available through the Services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SLATE HOLDINGS LLC’s aggregate liability for all claims related to the Services will not exceed the total amount you paid to RoomMeet during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. These limitations are fundamental elements of the bargain between you and SLATE HOLDINGS LLC.
Any claim or dispute related to a purchase must be raised within one (1) year from the date of purchase, unless a longer period is required by applicable law that cannot be waived.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SLATE HOLDINGS LLC and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Services, your Content, or your breach of these Terms.
This indemnification includes claims by third parties for intellectual-property infringement, privacy violations, or other harm arising from your actions or Content.
If a claim arises for which you must indemnify us, we will notify you and may reasonably cooperate in the defense. You may participate in the defense with counsel of your choosing at your expense. We will not settle a claim that requires your indemnification without your prior written consent, which will not be unreasonably withheld. These obligations survive termination of these Terms.
Service Availability And Termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of RoomMeet, including particular schools, queues, pricing, or features, with or without notice, as needed to operate or improve the service or to address legal, safety, or platform constraints.
We may refuse service, remove Content, or suspend or terminate access or accounts for violations of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, or other legitimate operational reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including licenses already exercised, payment obligations already incurred, indemnification, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive termination.
Governing Law And Venue
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States of America, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located within the Commonwealth of Virginia, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. The parties waive objection to such venue. The prevailing party in any such action may recover its reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.
Changes To The Service Or Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates the latest version. It is your responsibility to review updates. Continued use of the Services after updates means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services.
Updates to the Refund Policy apply as stated in the Refund Policy (generally to purchases made after that policy’s updated date, unless applicable law requires otherwise). Updates to the Privacy Policy apply as stated in the Privacy Policy.
We may also change features, pricing, school availability, queues, and related service details. Material pricing changes for a paid plan you already purchased are handled according to the terms shown at checkout, Stripe’s billing flow, and the Refund Policy.
Entire Agreement And Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, SMS Consent materials (where applicable), and any terms expressly presented at checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and SLATE HOLDINGS LLC regarding the Services and supersede prior or contemporaneous communications on the same subject.
Subject control: the Refund Policy controls refunds, cancellations, billing disputes, and chargebacks; the Privacy Policy controls personal-information practices; these Terms control the contractual relationship and all other subjects not specifically controlled by those policies. Checkout terms control the specific purchase they describe when they expressly differ.
A printed version of these Terms and any electronic notice may be used as evidence in legal or administrative proceedings to the same extent as other business documents originally generated and maintained in printed form.
If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, consistent with the intent of these Terms. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
